Dr. Arthur Lyon Dahl is President of the International Environment Forum, a board member of ebbf – ethical business building the future and of the Global Governance Forum, and a retired Deputy Assistant Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), with 50 years’ experience in environment and international governance, systems science and indicators of sustainability. A biologist by training specialising in small islands and coral reefs, he lived and worked for many years in the Pacific Islands and Africa before settling in Switzerland. A lifelong member of the Bahá’í Faith, he is interested in the relationship between science and values, and has participated in many conferences on ecology, ethics and spirituality. He has published many scientific papers and books including “Unless and Until: A Baha’i Focus on the Environment”, “The ECO Principle: Ecology and Economics in Symbiosis”, “In Pursuit of Hope: A Guide for the Seeker”, and (with Augusto Lopez-Claros and Maja Groff) “Global Governance and the Emergence of Global Institutions for the 21st Century”.
